Tirumala Tirupathi Devasthanam, TTD, has kept the lands under temple board for sale through open auction. On April 30, 2020 a official announcement regarding the auction was made. As of now, Tirumala temple board has decided to sale the lands situated in Tamil Nadu through this open auction. Tirumala temple has lands in 25 around regions of Tamil Nadu. Lands in Tirichy, Srirangam, Chennai, Thiruvallur, Kanchipuram and many other regions have been announced for sale in this notice.
The version of TTD board Chairman,Yv Subbareddy, regarding the sale of temple lands is scarcity in funds. The board has already announced that they don’t have enough funds to pay the employees salary from June. It has also said that that temple board has no other go except for relying on the fixed deposits and sale of temple wealth for maintenance expenses.
However, the temple board already once decided to sale the temple lands in 2019. But, they had to take back the idea after the Oppositions and public opposed the sale of temple property. The Oppositions TDP, BJP might be reacting upon this latest auction notice in the similar way as they done before. This is a shock that one of the richest temple board of world is facing issues related to funds.
