This is the first case of a barber testing positive for COVID-19 in Hyderabad city.

With a little relaxation of lockdown, it looks as if the coronavirus spread is rapidly increasing. More community transmission seems to be happening and the incident in Hyderabad itself is proof. In Hyderabad, a 48-year-old barber was tested positive for coronavirus. The man is said to have developed symptoms such as cough and fever after two days of opening the shop a week ago. On Saturday after suspecting the symptoms to be of Coronavirus, the man went to a private hospital. On Sunday his samples were tested in Fever hospital Nallakunta where the results showed positive.

The officials have moved the barber to the isolation ward and are being treated. The contact tracing is now underway. Until now 9 primary and secondary contacts where identified. They include his 40-year-old wife, 23-year-old son, his two employees, and a 5-year-old. Around 50 people are said to have a haircut or shave in the shop since he returned to work. But the barber isn’t revealing the names of his customers which is making the job even tough for the officials. The officials have already done a fever survey in a kilometer of radius from the shop.

The total number of coronavirus cases in Telangana is 2792. The number is likely to increase due to the lockdown relaxations.
