Indian government has officially banned 59 Chinese apps. The orders with regard to the ban were passed on Monday evening. The order comes with the statement saying “which are prejudicial to sovereignty and integrity of India, defence of India, security of state and public order”. This decision of Indian government came after the tension prevailing in the Indian Chinese Border.
These Chinese apps were making a whopping fortune with the Indian market. The Digital war announced by India on Chinese apps must be a shock to the Chinese. Few famous apps like UC Browser, Tik Tok, Helo, CamScanner, Likee and Hago are also among the list. UC Browser and Tik Tok have extraordinary user base in India. The Government hasn’t clearly stated from when the 59 banned Chinese apps will go unavailable from the play store.
Meanwhile, Indian digital market is busy developing the replacement apps to these Chinese apps. Already, a replacement app for Tik Tok has started trending in Google play store with millions of downloads.
Indian public have welcomed the ban on Chinese apps by Indian government. On the other hand, Chinese are gathering their troops in the Indo Chinese border. India is yet to retaliate the Chinese for Galwan incident.
