Nagarjuna is in Back to Back disasters, he is in much need of a break through to stay in the race. To bring back all the success he wants, Nagarjuna planned of making a sequel to Manmadhudu and titled Manmadhudu 2 to use the craze of the yesteryears Blockbuster. One film old Rahul Ravindran was roped in to direct this project. Rakul Preet has played the lady lead. Movie has released worldwide today.
Sam (Played by Nagarjuna) has a sad failure love story, after which he Chooses to become a flirt and not to get married. But Sam’s family wants him to get married, especially his Mother. To escape the family, Nag plots a plan to hire a girl to set up a fake marriage and plans to break the marriage. Sam hires Avantika (played by Rakul Preet) for marriage drama. Things go as they planned, marriage has been broken, but health of Sam’s mother gets worst after the marriage breakup. Avantika enters Sam’s house again. This time in a different avatar, mean while in the process Avantika falls for Sam, how Sam and Avantika end up together makes the climax.
While the movie is a love story, lot of work depends on writing the screenplay. Almost all love stories have same kind of stories, Love – Break Up – Again Love. While this is like a formula, its the screenplay which makes every love story unique from each other. The same is the case with the story of Manmadhudu 2 also.
While bringing back the Yesteryear Blockbuster with a sequel extreme care should have been taken. But director of Manmadhudu 2, Rahul Ravindran had no clue with what he was dealing with. Right from first frame to last frame Narration, screenplay all went very flat. Rahul failed to write a gripping narration for Manmadhudu 2. Eventually ended up messing with too many Characters. Nagarjuna should have had cared to rope in a experienced director. Rahul Ravindran as to burden the result of Manmadhudu 2.
Nagarjuna and Rakul Preet:
A tailor made character for Nagarjuna, nothing much to say new about Nag’s acting. Comedy timing of Nag with Vennela Kishore was quite impressive. The only positive of the movie. Rakul Preet character is a complete mess, she even couldn’t shoulder the messsed up character. Transition of Avantika was poorly written and Rakul Preet couldn’t bring the needed transition.
More than a dozen of actors in various characters. Out of all only Vennela Kishore shined. All the rest were in the screen with half baked characters or just to bring the grandeur to the visualisation with so much characters moving in the house.
Music- Editing- Cinematography:
Cinematography was shabby at parts with shakes, blur and focus issues. Atleast in the editing table those should have been worked out. Both the departments Cinematography and Editing were inadequate. Sukumar and Chota K Prasad will get to take the blame for the poor work. Beautiful Portugal wasn’t shown beautiful as it was supposed to be shown.
Music by Chaitan Bharadwaj was ok, Naa Lona song was good, visualisation was also ok.
An dire attempt to use the craze of Manmadhudu misfires. Rahul Ravindran’s lazy direction and Narration is what to be blamed. STAY AWAY!
